1992 Toyota pickup manual swap problems
Ok I have a 1992 Toyota pickup that originally was an automatic. I have a wrecked 1995 4Runner that was a 5pd. I took the 5spd out of the 4Runner then put it in my 1992 pickup. The master cylinder is in, slave cylinder is in, manual tranny is in, I swapped the manual ecu from the 4runner to my pickup. But I can’t get my pickup to start. It will only click. I’m stuck, I’m reading a lot of things about having to splice some wires or maybe do something with a neutral safety switch? But I can’t get any good info. Please help

No Start
Hi.
The 95 4Runner wiring harness, and ECM has a clutch start cancel circuit built into it.
When the feature is not active (switch released), you must depress the clutch pedal to send power to the starter motor when you turn the ignition key to the crank position.
When the feature is active ( switch depressed), the clutch pedal doesn't have to be depressed to crank the engine.
The switch is located pn the lower left side of the instrument panel
There is also a switch located on the clutch pedal arm that senses the pedal being depressed.
You could probably fake a ground somewhere in the circuit to bypass the whole thing.

What did you do with the wiring for the automatic transmission shifter?
The automatic trucks have a Park/Neutral safety switch that won't allow the starter motor to crank the engine unless the transmission is in park or neutral.

The starter doesn't have anything to do with the ECM. As old87yota points out, your automatic transmission had a Park/Neutral Switch, which interrupts the current to the starter solenoid (AFTER the starter relay) when out of Park-Neutral. If you didn't short B to B-W at the switch, the starter relay will close (that may be the click you heard, but only you would know) but no current to the starter.
With your manual, you need the Clutch Start switch, which interrupts current to the starter relay (so the relay doesn't close without the clutch in.)

i just swapped my 94 to a manual, i jumpered the 2 wires on the big plug for the auto to get it to start, and found the wires on that same plug for the reverse lights and ran them to the reverse switch on the drivers side of the transmission (W58)
my truck is 2wd so i cant help you with the 4WD
