Ignition switch woes after purchasing a replacement...please help!!
I had to replace the ignition switch on my 1993 Toyota Pickup 4x4 the other night because the key would not turn past the LOCK position without jiggling it 483 times before it would finally release. I purchased a new one (aftermarket one for $54 off of Amazon) and now my situation is the key will allow you to turn the vehicle off and on, but you cannot get it to the LOCK position and remove the key. So now I'm stuck disconnecting my negative battery terminal when I leave the vehicle with the key in the ignition....ugh!!
Anyone ever have a similar issue? I am going to say it's the aftermarket part causing the problem. I ordered an OEM used one from ebay last night and it should be arriving Thursday. Hopefully that fixes my problem.

It is such a habit anymore .
But after using truck when in ACC you need to push in while turning to get it in the lock position.
Your old lock cylinder might have been so worn you no longer had to push it in now the new one is tight .
