86 4runner caliper upgrade

hey guys i have searched numerous threads and haven't found what i am after, i have an 86 4cyl 4runner and an 89 v6 parts runner, the rotors are wearing out on my 86 and i didn't know if it was worth it to swap the 89 calipers and rotors to the 86. is that alone a good upgrade or will i have to switch the brake MC over from the v6 as well, any other modifications when doing this? have heard that the 2nd gens have bigger calipers and MC, but i am really trying to work with what i have from the 89 v6. any help is appriciated thanks

the '86 Calipers do NOT fit an '89.

RockAuto has rotors for your '86 for as little as $15!

The '89 V-6 calipers will fit the '86 if the '89 V-6 rotors are used as well.

I replaced the rotors and calipers on my '87 with calipers and rotors from a '92 V6 Runner and kept the original '87 master cyl. I am happy with it. Using this setup near 5 years now.

The only mod. i had to do was to cut about 1 in. or 2 in.off the brake dust covers to fit the bigger calipers on.

The spindles/knuckles are the same from the 86-88 and the 89-95 trucks, so the V6 4Runner or T100 Calipers and Rotors would be the largest factory bolt on upgrade.

This, except I'm thinking it was more like 1/2" on mine

Two wheel drive stuff work as well as 4WD? I have a dead 95 2WD and want to swap master, booster, calipers, etc on my 88 22re. Advice? Also on proportioning valve stuff.
