Hi, my TOYOTA badge is missing off my grill and I would like to replace it. I know this should go in the classifieds section but I thought I should let you guys know that if you need one you can get it on ebay for only $800. Not too bad huh?

In all seriousness, it does say 84-86 only, so what's the difference? The grill seems to be a little different on the 86 compared to the 88 I had before, but why wouldn't the badge from an 88 work on an 86? Any ideas?

If I am not mistaken, the 1984-1986 emblem was a decal placed on a flat part on the grille. The 1987-1988/1989 emblem was an actual molded piece of plastic that has TOYOTA molded into it that fit into the grille in between the top and middle bars. I don't think you can interchange them without modification.

 

Hmm....I wonder if I can just get any old Toyota emblem, as long as it's the right size, and just glue it on? My 86 has a blank rectangle, so it looks like if I could find a badge that fits the dimensions I could just glue it in. I'll have to check the next time I'm at a junkyard. Or maybe replace the entire grill since mines not in the best shape.
