1999 toyto tacoma
Truck cranks fine--however when you turn it off you cannot get the key out of the ignition. It stays in the on position. I unplug the battery so as not to drain it. Then I can get the key out of the ignition.
What do you think the problem may be

I unplug the battery so as not to drain it--the alarm goes off, I'm having to do this every time I turn the truck off. It is aggravating and time consuming. Then I can get the key out of the ignition---hook the battery back up

You are pushing the key in then turning all the way to the left.
To remove the key
It is such Muscle Memory I don`t think about it
If this does not allow you to remove the key.
You most likely have a Lock cylinder problem or a burr on the key.
Does flipping the key around make a difference??
