brake pad wear

I have a 2001 Toyota four runner. While checking brake pads the outer pad is worn more on the outside. Is this normal?

Short answer - no. If its time for a brake job, check rotor thickness and integrity of piston boots. If still brakes fine, may not be an issue, yet. Tons of info out there and here.
