FYI: flexseal works NOT

Updating to say that ˟˟˟˟ didn't last more than six months

my 4Runner cap has been in a shed for years. I put it on a few months ago because my Canback has finally shrunk enough that i can't snap it on anymore.

the cap had a crack in the top surface, just over the left slider window. A minor crack that never leaked until some idiot asked me if it leaked and poked at it. He put his finger right through and I said "it probably will now, a-hole".

Sure enough next time it rained, it leaked, so i covered it with duct tape and plastic and that band-aid stayed until it went into storage.

So, I thought i'd try some red Plasti-dip as a quick fix. No good. It looked nice, but first time in the rain, i went to drive away and a pint of water came out of the cap and dumped on the rear seat.

So again, in a pinch, i ran to get some Flex Seal. I sprayed a couple coats over the crack, and waited for the next rainy spell, which was today.

THE CATCH: the stuff has "flyaway strands", much like Spray Trim Adhesive does. So doing this outside, you'll get bits of it all over your windows and everywhere in between. You can't tape off too much! Out in the wind, it'll go everywhere.

It does rub off, but i had to use a whole bottle of window cleaner with a razor blade on every inch of glass on the truck to remove it all.

of course quick fixes are no substitute for a correct drill n' fill fiberglass resin repair. Which i'll get to some other lifetime.
