Have a 07 taco any tips on changing the oil on the tranny? Need some help guys can't find the fill plug

Buy yourself a repair manual, or search online. There will be photos. They'll show you where the drain and fill plug are.

I don't know 07s at all, but at least with every truck I've had from 78-98, it's easier to fill it back up with fluid through the shifter hole in the cab. Not sure with automatics...I've never had one.

Tips...warm it up by driving it first. Make sure you can get the fill plug out before trying the drain plug. Once you have the fill plug out, take out the drain plug. Let it drain completely. Put plug back in. Pour oil into shifter hole until a small amount starts leaking out the fill plug hole, and then put that plug back in and bolt the shifter back on and you're done.

Once you've done a few transmissions, transfer cases, differentials etc you'll be able to pick out fill and drain plugs a little better. They blend in pretty well when you don't know what you're looking for.

 

Where can you get a manual and repair manual for a 95 Toyota pickup 4x4. I can't find one for this truck and others that are suppose to "work" for this truck never have the same pics as what I have.

 

Most autoparts stores have the Haynes manuals for them.

 

Used to be a ton of FSMs online but I think you have to be a little more tricky to find them now since Toyota made a lot of people take them down.

But what I really wanted to say was "search, Funky butt lovin, search"

But then I looked in the obvious place, the FSM thread in General Repair, and none of the FSM links work anymore. I mean the links work, but there are no FSMs there anymore.

Should be a fill plug on the side, drain plug on bottom.

 

If it is like my 2005 Tundra, the fill plug is on the bottom of the tranny pan. There should be two plugs, a drain and a fill. The drain plug will be flush with the bottom of the pan and the fill plug will be recessed up a bit. You fill the the tranny until it starts to overflow out of the fill plug.

Unless you have a leak, there really shouldn't be any reason to add or replace the fluid. Supposedly, the automatic transmissions in newer Toyotas were designed to be 100% maintenance free throughout the life of the vehicle. I don't like the idea of running old fluid either, but apparently that's the way it is. I have 160,000 miles on my Tundra with the original tranny fluid and not a single problem or sign of problems to come.
