Hey everyone recently bought my 4runner so been trying to figure out all its quirks and such, but one of the things that is very frustrating is the rear tailgate window. It seemed to be working fine at first and then started acting more buggy until for a while it stopped going down all together.

I have checked the docking of the rear wiper and put in a new relay box also just noticed that their was a partially detached solid green wire coming from the rear window center console switch that i resoldered. The window rolls up no problem but rolling the window down only seldom seems to work only if i continually click the console switch down and hold it for long periods and sometimes it seems to stutter for bit on and off when it does start rolling up. and then sometimes it seems to work fine so im not sure whats going on.

Also using the key from the back will only roll the window up when try i to roll it down get nothing and no click from the relay yet it still will intermittently work from the center console switch.

Any ideas?

 

so does the relay click every time with the front switch? as for the key switch, i found mine had broken wires in the gromet where it goes into the body. make sure the door is completely closed as well. moght have to take the pannel off the door and test the harness.

 

Yea the relay clicks every time with the front console switch sometimes not for rolling down but always for up

 

the relay module was new, or used? try unplugging and replugging the connector, and have someone operate it while you wiggle the harness.
