IF I'm driving down the road sometimes bumps will almost rip the steering wheel out of my hand not really sure what causes this any help would be nice

 

Just how fast are you going hitting any rough road at speed can cause strange things to happen.

 

About 35 to anything after it really weird actually makes me scared to let go and have been boy 1 hand on the wheel

 

Get under and check out the steering linkage and front suspension

Does not hurt to slow down but it is those unexpected ones that can cause surprises

 

Well everything under front is brand new except the steering linkage inner and outer steering is still tight so I figured it didn't need replacing at the time could a bad alignment cause this? I've actually had it rip the wheel out of my hands before

 

The alignment should have nothing to do with it. What you describe is similar to driving the older vehicles without power steering. Check the reservoir after you drive it a short bit. Are there air bubbles in it or does it look frothy? It sounds like there is an issue with the system, possibly the rack is damaged...

 

Everything works fine except the problem described what would be something visible to look for to see if rack is damaged? And could the worn ball ends on outer rods cause the problem stated?

 

You can first get the front end off the ground and with a finger or two you should be able to easily and smoothly turn the steering wheel from lock to lock. If it turns smooth for a bit and then catches that would indicate that the main shaft of the rack is bent (something you can visibly see without taking it out). The second thing you can look for is if there and any fluid under the boots for the inner tie rods.

Essentially speaking, it is the hydraulic pressure that keeps the steering wheel from ripping your thumbs of when you hit something. If the pressure is not sufficient enough then what you describe will occur. It may that an internal seal is failing or I suppose if the pump is failing it could also cause your symptom.

 

The power steering pump was acting weird this last winter and the power steering would come in and out
