1977 Hilux Project

Hey all, I'm here to showcase my current project and learn what I can from you guys. As it is too late to take photos, I'll post tomorrow. I've (re)fabricated/reupholstered a bench seat from one taken out of a 2002 Chevy van, stripped the interior, and gotten all my electronics working (who decided that the flasher belonged behind the radio?!).
Living in Leavenworth, WA, I mountain bike, snowboard, and all the other outdoorsy stuff this place has to offer- which is making me want to convert this thing to 4x4. I've been reading up on the Wolverine, and it's use of a jeep dana 20 (or 30?) transfer case and axle. anyone know of any alternatives to this, from what i know, they are a little flimsy for my liking... i'll be getting better suspension/adding leafs to the back until i figure out a 4x4 conversion. Right now the truck is dead stock except for the seat and the Weber carb. (I've also pulled out that accursed smog system.)

Thanks!

Well, crap. I mosquito coasted the thing and did the "easy" rebuild, replaced all my gaskets, etc... found that I had not seized the engine, but a bolt had ground itself between my flywheel and the bellhousing.
Engine started knocking about halfway up the chumstick highway, thought I might be too thin of oil, so I put 20/50 instead of 10/30.
made it home last night with a slight knock, only to start it this morning and have it sound as though it wanted to throw a rod. added lucas oil thickener and the problem has only exacerbated itself, all signs are pointing to a badly spun bearing. Will be pulling it apart again tonight it looks like.

(On a side note, if anyone has a 20r or a 22r that they'd donate to my cause, id be forever in your debt... i can drive to pick it up and/or work for it if needed.)
