Fuel Injector Clips
Im in the process of installing the injectors on my 22RE after having them cleaned by WitchHunter.
Is there a trick to getting the metal clips back on the injectors? For the life of me I cant figure it out.
Thank you guys!

good luck with those injectors that witch hunter cleaned. i had two fail within 5 months after having them cleaned/rebuilt. in hindsight, i should have used fuelinjectors.com, because they offer a 1-year warranty for cleaned injectors, even on customer-supplied injectors. i have since replaced the originals (cleaned by WH) with 4 rebuilts purchased from another vendor with a 1-year warranty, motor man fuel injection.

thanks guys. I never really understood how the clips work, so I took them off wrong Im sure.
Do I go ahead and have the clip fully in place on the injector, then push it down? Or leave it pulled out a little?
If i knew the injectors plugs wouldnt vibrate loose, i would just leave the clips off

Put the wire clip on the connector all the way around. Then slide the connector on with a firm push. If you listen real close you may be able to hear the wire slide over the tab and make a little "click" noise.

the clips can be "fully" attached prior to connecting (they probably should be). it will snap together and hold.
fwiw, i pulled all the clips from my connectors. it has been operating correctly for the last month (when i changed out the originals cleaned by witch hunter that failed).

Thank you Wally.
I have another question please. There were 4 crush washers on the cold start injector fuel line where it hooks to the plenium. Do 2 washers go on each side of the fuel line?
I put everything back together and the truck wouldnt start. Im in no hurry, so I need to recheck all my hoses that attach to the plenium. I tried to take good pics before I started, but apparantley i didnt do a good job of that.

To make sure I understand correctly, one of the 2 crush washers goes between the tab and the fuel line?

I know which one you are talking about. It fits in a slot protruding from the plenium. So its the only one for that side of the fuel line, and one regular crush washer on the other side. Correct?
What about at the other end of the fuel line? One on each side of the line?
Thanks again for the help!

Thanks scope. I never could get it to stop leaking at the plenium connection today. I ordered a crush washer assortment today and Im hoping one of the sizes will fit. I dropped the others down in the engine bay today anyway.(Oops).

Assortment?
I'm guessing that's a bunch of copper washers. I used to think that Toyota crush washers were aluminum, but now I'm pretty sure that they are tin-plated copper. The tin does affect the amount of torque needed, but I don't know why Toyota did that.
At my excellent dealer, crush washers are about a buck.

So the mystery of the 22RE "black hole" has been solved. LOL
Yes scope, its an assortment of sizes that I ordered. Never quite sure why I never could get that fitting to stop spraying. I know the crush washers are not supposed to be reused but I know plenty of us get away with using the old ones. Maybe a new crush washer will be the ticket.
