For the newbies(and those smarter than the rest of us)

It has kinda pissed me off a little bit that in all manuals they have to mention not smoking around gasoline etc.
But then you have to realize they write for LCD (Lowest Common Denominator)of ignorance.
After sifting through the BS on Facebook, which most of it is, it has become clear of a tragic event last week..
My childhood friend Greg I've known since I was 8 years old, not seen in 35 years was
crushed and killed while working on his 70's van in Florida on April 18th.

Under the van supported by just a tire jack, no doubt under the influence and alone.

I've heard about it, but now I know about it personally.

Darwin and Mother Nature are watching and waiting.

Such a tragic and stupid Loss at just age 60

Don't be a Greg!!!! RIPieces

A .10 cent seal is all that is holding the pressure on a jack. It only takes a moment for things to go wrong and no time to react. Even with a truck on jack stands I still like to put the tire under the frame when possible just for another back up just in case the it comes off of the jack stand. He still had several years left.

Red face

It happens even though most people that get hurt this way know better .

About just as bad as using Cinder blocks to support things.

I pulled my Tacoma off Jack stands on concrete sitting nice and square trying to break one of the bolts loose on the bell housing or starter with a 3/8" ratchet .

I still have no idea of how I got out from under the truck.

I am pretty sure it sat on the floor like that for some time before I ever finished the clutch change.

And to have the right tools and not use them

I was told it was a scissor jack, and the stands were about 10 feet away when found by local friends. What a horrible way to go
