Cigarette lighter not working

My cigarette lighter got blown via a 12V harbor freight air compressor. The 15 amp cig lighter fuse is good and have changed it twice just to double check. The radio still works. It was a slow burn out as it felt to be less powerful as opposed to a quick blown fuse. Is there a fusible link somewhere that powers the lighter? I tired to find it but could not readily find it.

Thank You. Have a 91 toyota pickup 22re

Did you check for 12VDC at the lighter? Might have taken it out. The 88 wiring diagram doesn't show any other links. I would also check the ground.

Just what leads you to think it is no longer working??

The coils in lighters burn out.

Some devices the plugs are to small and don`t make contact.

Sometimes the sockets get so corroded they no longer work.

Fuse loose in the socket not making contact.

One of the wires going to the lighter is off or broken.

I used a volt meter and tested the socket. That is a good trouble shooting checklist. Im down to it either being the socket or the wire behind it.

Update: it was just a bad socket. The wires, fuse and ground all were good. I took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly and it still is dead. Ill grab one at my next pick n pull run
