I've put an 88 3vez in to a 92 extended cab. (won't make that mistake again!) I am chasing a massive misfire which I am believing to be a part of the ignition system..

Presently running the 88 distributor, with the rest being 92 electronics. It runs but just barely. In reading the troubleshooting section of the manual, I am learning that the resistance values in the earlier distributors is different...

(this is the first EFI rig I have ever worked on)

Do I need to get a 92 distributor in order for it to work with the rest of the system? And Can the later distributor be machined to fit into the earlier Head?
