87 Pickup loose CV

Hey guys,

I have an 87 pickup i'm trying to get on the road and i have a mysterious (to me) CV issue. I have taken apart both sides to find the previous owner has made some of his own thrust washer as the usual washers and brass bolt were not there, I found that the C-Clip on the axles were missing so i figured that was my issue. I put snap rings in the groove of the axle and reassembled. My issue is the drivers side will not stay tight, if you reach around and grab the axle it has a ton of play and i cant figure it out. Is there somewhere i can order the correct bolt and washers and clip for the axles? and why wont this CV stay tight is it a bad cv? Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure the c-clip you want is 90520-27023 http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...rimLevel=18292 (use your VIN to be sure, but I don't think the part changes much by model). I'm also pretty sure that the "Brass" bolt just isn't necessary.

With just the c-clip on, you shouldn't have any more than 1mm or so of play. If you have more than that, something else is wrong.

awesome thank you i will order the right clips to be sure, but it looks like there might be something else wrong too. I will order the correct spacer and clips and see if that fixes it.
