lift truck 2.5".. new shocks?

So i wanted to do a small lift of 2.5 inches on my truck, i need new tires and wanted to go with 33's
In the future im going to get new shocks when i can afford them but need tires first. i have rancho 5000 shocks. I was wondering if i could get away with running the shocks i have with a small lift?

Check specs of rancho 5000
New travel (extended) = Stock extended travel + 2.5 inches (approx).
new compressed travel =Stock compressed length + 2.5 inches (approx).
Are they compatible?
OR
Remove shocks, test flex. If Shock travel is as long as new travel/flex. If not, replace shocks, because they would be limiting your travel and would be under stress when you flex to the max.
