So I just purchased some new Revos and since the tire guy said that 265/70/16 is also a popular size with F-150's, I am looking to protect my investment. Doing a bit or research found that the best wheel locks are Gorilla brand. But What size do I need. I'm pretty sure its 12mm x 1.50, but there are many variations to this size, like rounded end, acorn, shank with washers, etc, etc. And there are many different Gorilla Locks too. Like Gorilla Guard II, Gorilla Guard etc. etc. So which one is the right one?

BTW- 98 4Runner with stock wheels.

You want wheel locks for your tires? Do people go through the trouble of jacking up your truck to steal the tires where you live? Usually it's for the wheels. Even so, people that do that kind of thing on a regular basis already have keys for lug locks on hand when they go to do a job.

IMO, it's not worth it unless you live in a high crime city.
It's all in WHERE you park the car, not how much security gadgets it has on it.

Either way, from my research the plain jane 12X1.5 Acorn nuts should do the trick.

 

I can buy almost a full set of rims for what it cost me for one tire. Yes, if they want to steal them, they are going to get them, but I ain't going to just make it easy. Wheel locks are simple insurance to deter the idiot wheel thief or the crack head looking to find something to hock. It takes no more time to use wheel locks than it does not too. It just takes a bit of effort to put the key in your glove box or center console.

 

Well in my defense, I live in El Paso TX where Mexico is a stones throw away. Ford F-150s are the #1 vehicle of chioce amongst car thieves here. Revos seem to be the "it" tire right now. Combine that with the Revos sharing the same size tire for most of those trucks. Suddenly it becomes reasonable to sink $20 in wheel locks to protect $600 worth of tires.

I agree, it won't deter the most determined thief, but I'm not gonna lay down either.

So Acorn 12mm x 1.50 is what I need?

 

I tried to find a 100% sure answer, but I am 90% sure that is what you need.
