Put a stock 22r back in it. You'll be able to do 50, no problem.

Seriously, if your truck was only running on 5 cylinders, it should still go like a scalded dog.

If it's new to you, start with the basics:

Tune-up, compression test, ect. Find out where you're really at.

Do you even have a tach? Punch the numbers in a gear calculator and see if it's normal.

Transfer case gears would only affect your low-range, it wouldn't change hi-range/2wd. I'm no expert in figuring all the gear ratios, but I think your problem is the combination of the turbo 400 trans (3speed) and the 5.29 gears. You could easily get away with running stock 4.10 gears with the power of the 350, and the lower gears of the turbo 400.

But it should still go faster than 50... Are you sure your not in low range?

Engine tuned up and running good?

Got pics?

You should be going 118mph at 6k RPM. I'll ask again do you have a tachometer?

TH400 is the same 1:1 ratio in 4th. That should fly, Is your trans slipping??? Is the fluid burnt?? Those tires and 5:29's may just be the problem or your speedo is way out.

A TH400 is a 3 speed. See my post above yours, pretty sure I could tell the difference in 50mph and 100mph without a speedo.

Sorry; my point was TH400 3rd is 1:1 same as a 5spd 4th is 1:1 and the t-case is pass thru in 2 or 4 hi. That is a lot of power going into thin air.

According to this chart:

http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-ti...atio-chart.htm

3500rpm you should be doing 65mph.
@6000rpm you should have your wings on.

TH400 2nd gear is 1:48 which makes your numbers look better.

So I am wondering if the transmission is not shifting to 3rd, or it is and the losses are converted into heat in the fluid. Everything else is heavy metal.

The T-case is solid gears, and the engine tach is god. I bet its not shifting into 3rd.

I don't see any other place for all that power to go. A base 350 is 190hp. Smell test the trans fluid, it has to be burned. There simply is no place left for it go.

I have plenty of power, when the trans shifts it chirps tires,I'm just wound out like I'm in 4lo...I tried to search t400 with 5.29,I found drag racers like this setup for 1/8 mile...witch is about the distance I'm in high rpm,3500 to 4000...I seen some time slips with rpms, one was 73mph at 6900,so I think my tire/gear/trans setup is my problem...gona look into 4.11s and repost

My 87 3/4 ton suburban had a 350 with th400 and 3.42 gear ratio your 5.29s are way too much for this set up. I ran 35s on my sub no problem at the stock gear ratio
