96 Tacoma Automatic 2.4L: Dash Brake Light flickers on and off

My 96 automatic 2.4l 2wd Tacoma is doing this really irritating thing. For some unexplained and irrational reason, my brake light on my dash cluster will sometimes flicker on for unspecified periods of time and other times work like it should. Everytime it flickers on for no obvious reason, I check the e-brake to make sure it is dis-engaged. It is.

This is really frustrating. Could someone run me through a list of trouble shooting solutions?

Thanks in advance!

From getting cold the switch on the E-brake gets stuck at times.

Once the cab warms up it is fine.

Is it cold where you live??

It isn't too cold. The brake fluid seems to have fixed things.
