Anyone try this? I think it's mainly the fender flares and how they adapt and how the wheel wells are cut out under the fender flares on the 4wd.
There are also a lot of single-handle tailgates on the 4wds, if not all in the pre- '84 category whereas the 2wds tend to have the 2-handle design.
If the tailgate is the same dimensions, it would be easier to adapt the one-handle to the two handle bed than the other way around since it uses bolt-on latch brackets, the two-handle design has hooks that would be harder to build in and have them be structurally strong.
But the tailgate doesn't concern me as much as getting the fender flare area correct.
Rust free steel beds are rare enough that I'm willing to compromise a little. I may have found a rust free 2wd long bed.

I'm hoping to tackle this project some my self this weekend. I need to trim my fender to mount the flares. My bed is a 2wd with dual latch tail gate but I have singles latch tail gate. Haven't got the latch part figured out either. Couldn't pass up a rust free bed all through it's got quite a bit of body damage. My old bed had massive holes in it.
