I am curious...I suspect white, red and black are not clear coated, but I am unsure. I am looking at a red '88 with chalky original paint and if this color was not clear coated from the factory then I stand a good chance to make it nice and bright again...thanks!

I've seen on here that red doesn't have clear coat, as a good wax job(no dirty jokes) will make it look like a new paint job.
My dad had a black 87 and I believe it had a clear coat, that was several years ago though.

That's good to know. This is the fire engine red color, which if it were clear coated, would not get chalky - rather, the clear coat would fail, dry out and chip. This truck has that bit of haziness to it.

Chalky red isn't clear coated. If you look way back at ChefYota's Ruby build I think he unchalked his. You need to compound, polish and then wax. Harbor Freight has a power polisher for about $29.00. Good luck.
