GM alternator instal and now no spark
So I have done umteen hours of reading builds, opinions and checking all kinds of how to's. I tried to get the wiring figured out before I started and thought I had it down. Got it all together and now no spark.
What I have is a 1980 20r, used a GM alternator with 3 wires. Bat. #1 & #2 on the plug.
I hooked #1 to the yellow/white for the Gen light, I hooked #2 to the large white wire that went to the original battery hook-up. #2 on the alternator is suppose to be the sensing wire for the charge actuator on the internal regulator. A least from what I have read.
So I get it put back together, all looks good and no spark from the plugs or coil. I have power to the coil (red wire at coil) and the engine fuse is good.
I haven't cut any other wires, or done anything other than this, so any ideas?

Thanks for the response toasty, I read most of the posts on pirate and wired it up just like the guy on toyotamini. I must have done something sideways.
On the stock wire loom there is a small red wire that has power with the key on. I was thinking to hook that to the #2 on the alternator.
If in the odd chance that I do have it wired correctly, what should I look for next?
Electrical is where I feel really dumb sometimes.

What I've done so far
Got one more to upload.
I won't insulated the wiring until I know it's all good.
!- the alternator in.
2- The #2 is on the stock large white thru the stock connector
3- You can see the red wire on the regulator plug that's powered with the key on

The large white wire in the truck harness should be connected to "Bat" on the alt. The red wire that tied to the old voltage regulator will connect to the "excite" terminal of the alt. Do you have any diagrams that show what #1 and 2 mean on the alt? One should be the excite and the other is the charge light I would assume.

1 is the excite wire that causes the alternator to start doing it's thing. This must be tied to the ignition switch wire and nothin else. On my 83 it was a red wire. 2 needs to hook up somewhere that is just power. This is where the alternator will read the system voltage and determine how to regulate itself to maintain ~14VDC. Bat needs to be wired to the battery using the large Toyota white wire. This is the charge wire to the battery.
The way you have 2 might be ok. How did you connect the bat? Run a new wire? I considered that your 1 is still wrong though.

So I got back from a week on vacation and started messing with the Toy. I thought I was going to have to buy a new $350 distributor to take care of the no spark issue. I went to 5 different junk yards to try to find an igniter unit thinking that was the problem. Couldn't find any!
Turns out the contacts at the plug on my stock distributor were not making good contact. Pulled them out, cleaned em and she starts.
So far the alternator seems to charge fine with the set-up I used. I taped up the unused wiring and will use an inline fuse on the cable to the battery
