Fresh off rebuild, no spark?!?!?!?!

I just finished rebuilding the 3vze motor and and dropped it back in. Hooked everything back together and went to fire it up. Nothing. I have always had starter problems so i bypassed the ignition and started it. Engine turns over but no spark. What am I missing? I have grounds going from the battery to the body and also down to the a/c bracket, motor mount bolt hole on the block.
Engine was running when I pulled it. Just had some bad leaks and a bad exhaust valve. Any ideas?

I'm assuming by "bypassed the ignition" you mean you bypassed the ignition switch to engage the starter. The ignition switch not only has to supply power to the starter relays, it also needs to supply power to the ignition system itself (ECU, coil, distributor, etc.) If the ignition switch can't supply power to the starter relay, it's possible it is not powering up the ignition system either. In that case, bypassing the switch to activate the starter will still leave the ECU, distributor, coil, and plugs dead.

Were all of the lights and gauges on the dash up and working before you engaged the starter with your bypass wiring?

Yes, the lights on the dash all came on. However, I couldnt get the starter to engage with the key. Would just click a few times. But ive always had problems with that. However, I can usually get it to turn over with a tap to the starter and that was unsuccesful now.

This can help on your starter issues. Not sure about getting fire to your plugs.You can clean the contacts in the Starter Relay. Getting cover off, I used wire cutters to bend the tabs up on the cover. The rubber seal really makes it tough to get off. Luckily the wires are soldered on real well, I used a screw driver to work around the edges of the seal to help free the cover.

To help with the starter, you can replace the contacts in it.

Everyone is saying I might have missed a wire or something. Any ideas where to look?
