Hey all, I'm new to this site. My nephew just bought an 86 truck with a bad engine. I'll give the short story. 22r carb engine, 5 speed,. I am very versed in 4x stuff mostly jeeps. The truck is at my shop for the engine swap. The torsion bars are topped out and a home built spring for the rear. He wants to keep the height of the truck , I see kits out there that space the Ball joint down and drop the front diff. Are these durable? I ask because that is what he can afford. I understand a full kit from Pro comp or a similar brand is better. Are there any tips or " need to knows when doing the engine swap?

Thank you

Do the bj spacers and drop the torsion bars, or just drop the torsion bars back to stock hight.

Do you have an idea what stock height is? In looking at stock ifs truck it looks to me that the lower A arms should be fairly flat . Is this a good starting guess??? Also we removed the rear carrier to find 5.29 gears set up wrong and ruined so I assume the front is the same bad set up. Anyone have tips or trick to pull the front gear set, or do we just start removing everything?

Turn the torsion bars back to stock height and get some bj spacers. Skip the diff drop.

You posted this in the build up section, not the "ask questions" section, thats why the lack of answers.
