I Googled and things seem to have changed since I was looking for parts a couple of years ago. Which online parts dealers do folks around here (in this forum) like best? Specifically, I'm looking for a knock sensor and knock sensor wiring harness for my V6 3.0 3VZE.

By the way, Autozone is offering a knock sensor for this application for about $127, Which is about $30 less. Is it worth considering?

 

Two are in my sig line, among others.

 

I've had good luck with RockAuto, but those are after market parts. The only place I've found the pigtail is a dealer.

I've also had really good luck with my local dealer. They don't match online prices (why should they), but considering shipping and (mostly) time I've done quite well.

Whenever you shop for parts, don't forget your VIN. It makes it much faster to get the right part. If you go to the dealer (or any other place with a counter-man), print out the relevant drawing showing the part you want, and if you can get it, the part number you think is right. The drawings available to us are often out-of-date, but if there is a successor part number it's always easiest to find starting from the original part number.

 

Rockauto sells some Denso and NGk parts.

 

Rock has a couple of choices for the knock sensor. At $105.99, better price than Autozone or NAPA by a good bit. Now to find the wire.

My local dealer has the the pigtail wire for $14.80. Sold! I'm not gonna look further. But the sensor is $213.39. I'll have to pass on that. I might try to run with a low mileage (113k miles ;-) sensor that I have off a engine that blew a rod, but maybe not.

 

The sensors themselves rarely go bad.

But then, if you still have code 52 after re-using one, you've got to wonder if it might have been worth $100 just to avoid removing the plenum again. Particularly when you don't know if the sensor is the problem or not.

 

My budget is tight, so I will probably reuse my sensor and take the risk. Need to budget for injector testing and cleaning too.

-ive had good success with toyotapartscheap.com for oem parts. Pricey, but a good source for hard to find stuff.

-yotashop.com is good too. mixed oem/ aftermarket. they sell oem supplier stuff like taiho, npr, etc. good customer service and prices too.
