newbie from north ga. here!

Hey there my name is Mark. I bought my first toyota truck a few montjs ago. Its a 1993 ex cab, 3.0, 5spd. I got it for $800 due to it needing head gaskets and a slave cylinder. Just finished tje repair. While I had it apart I had the heads cleaned and resurfaced, replaced all top end gaskets, did new timing belt, idler pulleys, water pump, and did full tune up. I have a few bugs to work out but its running. I have a engine code #31, idle is revving between 1000-1500rpm (extremely annoying) and it boggs under full throttle.it runs fairly well if I drive it easy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I also have to replace the muffler any suggestions for a good muffler for a 3.0 would be good to.

Well it left me on the side of the road yesterday. No fire to the coil. I went and got my trailer and inlaws truck and towed it to the shop. And when I pulled it off the trailer it fired rite up.

Is the distributor possibly cracked? I had spark sometimes then no spark, and that was my solution? Also id search for a ground again.

Im pretty sure I got all the grounds. Im pretty sure its either the distributer or igniter pack. Igniter is $200 so I wanted to make sure before I spent the cash. Im gonna check tje distributer for cracks tomorrow.autozone says theu can check the igniter pack so I plan on doing that before I buy one.

I have an '88 4Runner with a blown 3.0. If the igniter or distributor will work on yours, you're more than welcome to them. I live in Tennessee now, but I will be going to ATL next week for work, if you can meet on 75 somewhere.

Let me know what your part numbers are and I will see what mine are and maybe you can cross reference them. Or if someone else knows....

did you fix the bogging under load issue? if not, maybe give your cat a looksie.
also, when it isn't firing, is it cranking but wont run? or do you turn the key and everything shuts off?

No I havent fixed the bogging under load problem but i think one of the cams may be a tooth out of time, it doesnt have a cat on it so I know thats not it. The other issue is its cranking but wont start but it only does it when its hot.

This truck is draining me, I have done all that I know to do. I reckon its gonna have to go to the shop....I have put a new distribitor, new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, new ignition control module and stil sometimes it fires right up and then all of a sudden no fire. I have also checked and rechecked all grounds not sure where to go next. Any suggestions?

AFM (air flow meter) has checked ok? TPS reading properly? These things won't kill the spark, but they could affect the bogging issue. Do you have a wiring diagram? Have you followed everything in the igniter circuit? Checked values at various places? Maybe there is a relay causing the no-spark?
