1992 Pickup 22RE OBD code 31: MAF benchtests OK; What vacuum switches indicated?

Vehicle has experienced first ever electronics problem at 293k miles. Sudden, severe stumble pulling away from traffic light. Engine at full operating temperature, Check Engine Light (CEL) flashed several times then went off after which it ran smoothly. Drove home. Checked codes: 13, and 31. Inspected and bench tested distributor ignition and Mass Airflow meter - found to spec. Cleared codes, ran perfect for five days only to give CEL flash once more with hard stumble, like key was turned off. Shortly thereafter, it would barely pull up grade and seemed about to stall out completely. It got me to my destination though. After cooling down and checking and clearing a code 31, it brought me back home seventy miles without a hitch.

I'm thinking the code 31 is pointing to the vacuum switch and not the MAF, but with only a wretched Haynes manual at my disposal I can't discover which vacuum switch is indicated by code 31. If this truck has a MAP sensor, I can't find it. I inspected all vacuum lines and connections in engine compartment and found nothing amiss. I searched the forums here but could not find this exact problem listed. Can anyone in the Toyota faithful help me out? Thanks :help

Looks promising

Thanks, combatcarl. I'm looking into this solution and will post back here when my stumbling issue is resolved. Again thanks a lot!

No worries. I usually ignore all the routine "hey what's wrong with my truck" threads. But don't see people doing a little research before posting, so I figgered I'd help. Most of the stuff I turned up didn't have a solution. If you inhabit pirate at any point, definitely search well before asking questions.
