I NEED MORE FUEL: Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump for 2001 4Runner SC'd??
Can anyone please give me advice on buying this unit for my gen 3 5VZFE 3.7L V6 Supercharged 4Runner?
Are these worth the money? I know I'm running lean because of knocking and power loss at higher speeds, but I'm concerned that the onboard fuel regulator (what's it really called) will nullify the benefits of this device because I fear the regulator won't allow more fuel to flow even though the pump will pump more. Will the fuel regulator stop the pump from getting the fuel where it needs to be??
Any help would be awesome, and any links you can post, as I'm about to buy a URD SC 2.2 pulley, and I REALLy need more fuel but don't want to spend $800 on the 7th injector kit.
Thanks

DO NOT GO SMALLER PULLEY UNLESS YOU WILL BUY 7TH INJECTOR KIT OR A HIGH END METHANOL KIT. Your max power is already getting cut due to timing retard while trying to fight pinging. A smaller pulley will only make is worse and make it feel slower than an 3.0!

Do the 2001 4Runners have the Fuel Regulator Units in them which regulate the amount of fuel allowed through the fuel lines?
If they do, wouldn't the Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump be useless because the Fuel Regulator would be in control?
Does Kenne Bell even sell these for our application anymore? Couldn't find any on his page.

Thanks a million
Thank you. Your post probably saved me from detonation and blowing my motor.
I am totally not satisfied with the performance in the first two gears (automatic). The closed loop performance is disgusting. Why should I not just get a custom ECU? Arent' they cheaper now, like 500? Seems this would solve a lot of problems. And the stock fuel pump is supposed to be able to handle things isn't it? What if I increased the voltage to it a little? Is there a fuel regulator thing or does the ECU do that? And how do I get the injectors to fire at 100? when they need to? (Can that only be done with a aftermarket ECU?)
Thanks man. There's not many who really seem to know what they're talking about.
I just installed a trans cooler and K&N filter instead of the 2.2 pulley....so maybe I'll save my transmission from any more damage since it was starting to jolt between 1st and 2nd at WOT, and I do tow often.

Gadget at URD did a lot of testing with different fuel mods to provide more power (he's the founder or URD but not at the time of his writings). The boost-a-pump items do next to nothing for this supercharger.
Might be good to educate yourself about what he's done. It's a lot, but you will know so much more about a S/C 3.4 and feel more confident in how to add power.

"And the stock fuel pump is supposed to be able to handle things isn't it? What if I increased the voltage to it a little?"
That's what the BAP does. From the site that Gamefreakgc recommended:
Final Recomendations:
Fuel delivery solution has to be done in a package deal. One thing without the other is only a half assed approach. The first thing is everything is dependent on there being enough fuel available from the pump in the first place. You should install a BAP or a larger pump so that enough fuel will be available. I am using the BAP. Then you have to find a way to get it into the engine. I have chosen to install adequate fuel injectors. Another approach is to install extra injector(S) in the intake track. Then there must be a way to properly control the injectors so the right amount of fuel is injected at the right time. I am using the Split Second Unit. And lastly you must make sure that boost pressure is not going to restrict fuel flow from the injectors by installing an FMU.

Gamefreak, did you even read what you recommended?? He also mentions talking to Mr. Bell at Kenne Bell several times and how honest and knowledgeable he is. I have experience with the BAP on my modified 351 Windsor but not in this application. I have been reading through this stuff. There's a ton of info on the gadgetonline fuel page and on the links I posted from Kenne Bell.
