Hey guys not sure if this is the right place to be posting this or not but a friend of mine is considering buying an '86 land cruiser sitting on 35s with stock gearsIt has custom front and rear bumpers and a winch and looks to be in good shape. The motor has 190,000 on it and runs fine. The guy wants $5800 for it. I'm a 1st gen 4runner and truck guy so don't know too much about these other than the f2 engine is supposedly pretty bullet proof other than poor fuel mileage. Is it with $5800 iyo? Also what type of fuel mileage should he expect? Thanks in advance!

price seems on point with where they are selling for here in CA. I'm assuming you'll be checking the rig for the usual rust that happens on the East Coast. They are rock solid trucks, very hard to kill them since they're so overbuilt. You can expect to average maybe 10-12mpg. If you're looking for MPG, buy a Corolla.

for pretty much any question you have regarding Cruisers, you may want to check out iH8Mud forums, the crowd over here at YT leans more toward the pickups and 4runners.

I've seen that on CL for quite a while now. If I had the $ and a place to put it, I would buy it.

 

Yeah we went and looked at it...just didn't really seem worth what he wanted for it.

The chassis has a decent amount of surface rust on it, one of the doors has a rust hole in it...it had a ford carb on it...temp,speed, and tac. Didn't work right...rear speaker not working...winch was broken...just little dumb crap like that didn't make it very desirable, not to mention it was huge..way too much lift...so we passed..still looking...hoping maybe to come across a nice first or 2nd gen 4runner in the area....just combing CL everyday to see if we get lucky!
