Leveling rear suspension..89 pickup

I've got an 89 Xtracab 4x4 with all stock suspension and 32/9.5/16s. The rear end sags a little, but predominantly to the passenger side. I assume it's due to the gas tank. In lieu of completely changing out the leafs with OME or 63 chevvies, like I plan on eventually, is there anything I can do to even out the back, but only the right side? Or will adding an AAL or something just make the right side taller than the left? I've never messed with the suspension, and don't exactly have the money to go experimenting..

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Add a leafs are cheap and will pick the back up a little. You could find another stock rear pack for cheap and make some bastard packs. It might be uneven- your springs are 25 years old. Anything you add to them will just be a band aid.

How long till you plan on replacing the springs?

x2 on this!! Listen to rattlewagon and get yourself some add a leafs or different packs.

I have used the AAL treatment to rear leaves with good results for a little while. Then they just end up doing the same thing. But if you are looking to save some money and band aid it for a while, that might be the way to go.

I won't be able to change out the rear springs permanently for a few years, at least. I'm just afraid of the possible effects a saggy butt will do to tires, mileage, babe-attracting, etc.. It just doesn't feel right having the truck look the way it is. I'll check out the local yards for some springs, and see what I can come up with.

Thank you guys, for the help. Much appreciated!

Swap the springs in the rear from side to side. Might take care of your lean at least until you are ready to swap to another set.

Wouldn't that just move the lean to the opposite side?

Allot of times when leafs start to sag if you swap them it will even out. Worth a shot since it's free! You will be moving the worn spring to the side with less weight and the good spring to the side with a little excess weight.

i'd also assume swapping the leafs might even it out, assuming the cause is the gas tank weight - but seriously, if you're even spending the time messing with it you might as well do it once and swap in replacements at that time. i'd see if you can get some used leafs off CL or at a yard, since that will be your cheapest option.

one thing to consider is whether or not you want to lift the rig. OME leafs only come in a 2" lift minimum height (over STOCK height). if you don't want to lift, then you might consider the used leafs, overload add-a-leafs, or even airbags or air shocks. Actually, airbags will give you the option to raise one side higher than the other if you want. Chevy leafs will take the most work to install correctly and depending on which ones you get you may end up sagging again unless you add blocks or really long shackles.

Good luck!
