P0172 code on 3.4. Long and Short term fuel issue on bank 1

1996 3.4 with 230K.

Have put about 200 miles on the motor since new head gasket. Heads were reworked and all new gaskets, seals, tb/wp, everything.

Has run fine the last few weeks. Temp dropped here to in the single digits with the wind chill. Started it to let it warm up a few days ago and started fine. Came in to let it warm up and a few minutes later could hear it hunting for idle. It finally died. Fired right back up fine but continued to hunt for idle. Drove it to work and missed a bit even above 2K rpms. I cleared the P0172 code. Drove again today and came back. Miss almost disappears once truck is fully warmed up.

Have Genisys SPX scanner. Says to clean the MAF with a q-tip and alcohol. I have MAF spray and can clean it.

Scanner says bank one is rich. Assume that is passanger side? Long term FT for bank one is -30.47%. Short term is -20.31%. Total FT Bank 1 is 0.52.

02 sensor is .89 and .88.

Would a MAF cause that kind of FT issue both long and short term?

Leaky injector? Just want to get thoughts on where to start and what to look for?

Thank you in advance for your help.

MAF 8.4 g/s at idle based on the Genisys scanner. WSM says should be about 3. Will clean MAF and report back.

Vital,

Thank you for the response. Coolant sensor seems ok.

I cleaned maf and runs fine at this point. Unhooked the battery to clean maf, so code is gone for now. Will drive it a few days and report back. It has warmed up today... in the 40's.

After a nice drive today. Numbers seem to be where they should be. Long and Short fuel trims are down. MAF reading at idle is 3.8. Both o2 sensors are down.

Really thought it was more than that and may still be. I will drive it to work this week and log some miles on it.
