how do I replace my thermostat on my 22RE?

Did a few searches for "replace thermostat 22re" and "how to replace thermostat " and even "thermostat" on Yotatech but no applicable threads came up - lot's of 100 page build ups did but after scanning a few of them, I got lost.

Anyway, I have a '93 1/2 ton 22re and would like to replace my thermostat. Can anyone point me to a how-to thread with photos, please?

Thanks!

That is how to replace both the t-stat and radiator, so make sure you only do the steps for the thermostat.

In the future when you search a subject you are better off to google it than to search within a forum.

Hey Tick,

Thanks for the reply. The thread you sent me doesn't really say how to actually remove the thermostat though. All the guy says is "remove old thermostat". No photo or how to past removing the thermostat housing.

just take out those 2 bolts, remove the hose, and lift off the housing, and it's right there. Just take out the old t-stat, and put in the new one (with a new o-ring)

You might want to have a thread replacement kit on hand for M8x1.25 unless this has been apart recently .

Most often 1 or if you have really bad luck both bolts break off. spray them for a few days first if possible.

If you have the Kit no worries don`t forget the drill bit

Get the Toyota Thermostat

Good call - I'll spray the bolts ahead of time.

Thanks everyone.
