Aisan Carb Rebuild Kit

How many of you have rebuilt your carb? I may do mine soon and I am going to either get the Napa kit or the LC Engineering kit. Has anyone everyone used either one and what are the pro's and con's of each? I know the LC one is about $15 but I care about quality on this, not price.

I have rebuild a few carbs but haven't rebuilt an Aisin hub. However, if I were t rebuild an Aisin hub, I'd go with LCE since they are the leaders in Toyota performance parts and their quality can be trusted. Obviously, I have to put my $0.02 in here and say what everybody else is thinking...get a Weber. LOL

LCE seems to know their stuff about carbs, I would trust their kits absolutely.

The only problem I had with the napa kit was, they had put the wrong instructions in the box.

NAPA's part quality is generally very good. It's a little lame to hear you got the wrong instructions, though.

The actual cleaning of the internals and rebuilding the carburetor is not difficult. The hard part is putting all the different linkages back in the right place. So....take lots of pictures for yourself.

Be prepared after the rebuild to expect the fuel in the float bowl drain out into the intake manifold after the engine to be stopped for a day or so. This seams to be a common occurrence after a rebuild from reading on this web board. It has also happening to me.

The most frustrating aspect of these carbs, mine does it too, and no one seems to have an answer....its not from fuel evaporation from a hot engine cause I've run my engine for just 1 minute to fill up the bowl and still does it......I'm tempted to go the Webber route just to stop this problem but I really wanted to keep the truck stock....I've rebuilt mine twice now......arghhhhhhhhhhh!

I read that the floats can go bad and actually start to absorb the gas causing it to constantly pump more gas and run rich. I wonder if that's whats wrong with mine. To bad the LCE kit didn't come with a new float...

I replaced my floats during the rebuild, bought them seperatly from the kit, didn't affect the bowl draining situation....

I ordered a new float from Autozone. It should be here tomorrow. I tore the carb down and now I have it soaking in a 50/50 simple green solution.

Ok this may be a stupid question but which gaskets do I use for the manifold to spacer and spacer to carb?

i figured out the gaskets. The one on the far left goes between the intake and the spacer. Second from the left goes between the carb and spacer.

Other problem is I put the new float on and assumed it would be ok and didn't check heights or anything. Well it fills the bowl up completely so now I have to adjust it lol. Oh well its fun learning this stuff.

Fixed my fuel bowl emptying issue

I had a fuel bowl drain problem with my aisin carb after doing its first rebuild as well. I ended up rebuilding it a few times with different kits. 3rd time I also installed a new float, I had even picked up another carb at the junk yard to try swaping things out. Yet no luck solving the issue, absolutely no change at all (I even picked up a factory shop manual). Then one day doing an oil change, i noticed something didn't look right, turned out the transmission was hanging a little low. So I changed out all motor and trans mounts, then checked engine and trans were correctly positioned. Now with motor and trans at proper hight the carb fuel bowl no longer empties. It was barely noticeable, but when you know your vehicle better than the back of your hand just staring at it long enough will cause the answer to jump out at you sometimes. Hope that possibly helps those with the bowl emptying issue.
Also wanted to mention to remember that the carb kits usually cover multiple carbs yet the diagram and instructions supposed to cover all dont match everything so you need to skip things but the critical part of instructions that actually matter are the angles and float adj measurements. Just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone was unaware or new to rebuilding carbs. First time I ever rebuilt a carb I thought I had wrong instructions cause blown up diagram wasnt identical. I know its about 3 years too late for any of my input but you never know what may help.

My issue was bad mounts caused motor tilt leading to bowl draining out. Are you saying your carb is untouched as in never rebuilt? If so there could be a multitude of things that cause this. I did so much research during the months i had this problem and found it could be anywhere from bad/worn out carburetor to float issues to a piece of debris causing a ball to be unable to seat and stop flow to power valve sticking open and somehow (i haven't figured out how) but clogged vent tubes supposedly can cause this. There were other reasons for this as well i just cant remeber them all. It can be as simple as a bad gasket or like mine have nothing to do with the carb itself being problematic but instead be over tilted engine from bad mounts and my crazy driving.
