87 EFI SR5 4Runner prepurchase advice.

I have been quietly watching ads for some time for a first Gen 4runner. I was looking for manual 22re and 4x4. One popped up that interested me, but its automatic. They are asking 4250 for 119xxx miles, undercarriage lining, new shocks, new timing chain, bfg tires, hard and soft tops, aftermarket front/rear bumper. My intended use isn't extreme offroad, but more for camping, trails, beach cookouts and things of this nature. Is there any worries with automatic, or am I just being stuck in my ways of only owning manual vehicles?

That seems high for an auto. They are not all that popular. the 22RE is gutless to start with and having an auto tranny doesn't help at all.

It really helps to know where you are there is a regional market for these things.

I also agree to much money for a auto.

some fool will come along feel it has to be his and can`t wait.
