I just purchased a Downey slip joint axles kit for cheap. Got all the stuff but was missing the installation manual. Dose anyone out there have an installation manual for this kit. I am going to put the axles in a 91 toy pickup that already has the rancho lift kit installed.

can you post pixs of the kit.

before i got a diff wide axle kit on mine, almost a decade ago, i looked seriously at the downey kit.

 

i have a downey catalog from 06, the description says they are made from chevy blazer spicer universal joints, with 4130 axle shafts.
it says not to compress your 4" lift kit compression stops as that is the only way to destroy the u joints cause it will exceed the travel capabilities.
list price for the kit was 669 for deluxe kit with outer cvs, 539 without outer cvs.

 

i remember they required the rancho upper a-arms...

 

PM "Downey" on ih8mud.com and ask him (Jim, the owner of downey) if he still has a copy of the instructions... He USUALLY has the info you need if it is about one of his products and willingly helps you sort out your problem/questions. (well, he has with me)

Here is a picture 91 toy pu. It's got 33x12.50 BFG MT's, 3 " rancho lift kit, Detroit locker back, loc right front, 5.29 gears, LCE header and warn 9.5 winch. I bought it new in 91 and did all mods. Also picture of Downey Slip joint Axle kit with mega travel ball joints which I just purchased and like to install but missing installation instructions. Keep all old parts when I did the rancho lift kit so with instructions should be able to stick diff back into factory position.

Lucky dog, I have been looking for that kit for a long time. Haven't been able to find it. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it?
