1985 22re Motorhome where to put jack?

Is it safe to use a bottle jack on the rear pumpkin with free floating axle? What about using a floor jack? I have visions of the bottle jack punching a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin. 6 ton Bottle jack and 3.5 ton floor jack. Thanks

A floor jack under the differential pumpkin is acceptable, assuming the ground is flat and you don't lift it up too high.

I wouldn't use a bottle jack under the pumpkin, mainly due to stability/safety reasons. I would only use a bottle jack to lift one end of the axle and use the spring U-bolt plate as a lift point. Lifting an entire axle with one or even two bottle jacks is just asking for trouble, imo. There's a large probability of the jacks toppling.
