ok so i have a 95 pickup with 22re 2wd with solid axle swap at least 4.56 maybe 4.88s (not sure have to pull to confirm) 30 9.5 AT tires nothing big yet
ok so i been having this problem of real lack of power intermitantly while driving sometimes its great and other times its runs horrid (idles bad you can feel it miss, bad fuel economy, no power)
i have gone through and replaced a bunch of fuel realted parts for it (power problem is newish) last week when i checked the spark plugs i found out that 2 of the 4 spark plug wires were broke so i rigged then back together to get home and pulled the 7mm wires and cap off my 86 22rte motor and put them on (yes the wires were different thats why i had to use the 86 cap which i wasnt impressed with its fairly worn) anyway it ran great until yesterday
yesterday while driving its was idleing low and missing at idle had no torque. taking off from a light i could stand on the pedal and the guy behind me was still yelling get out the way grandpa (now i know the 22re is no power plant but i can always beat people off the line in my truck) i have to give the truck more gas than normal to keep the same speed because of the power issue
somebody please help and if you need more information i can help but this thing has got me stumped and the master tech at work gave me some smartass answer and said it could be a number of things and walked off when i asked him if he could help me
btw im getting my old wires warrentied today so i can put my somewhat new cap back on instead of the 86 cap will keep you guys posted

 

Check your timing, if it's too high or too low it could make the engine run too lean.

Also make sure your fuel filter is clean, run a couple of fuel injector cleaners through the tank to make sure you don't have a clogged nozzle. New spark plugs (they are cheap) and new cap and rotor will help as well. Don't buy any expensive parts (all these items are tune-up items and recommended to replace) unless you know it's the issue.

 

i put a new fuel filter, o2 sensor, put plugs in last june (not sure how often to replace those) the plugs look ok but i guess ill check to see if one is bad

 

Maybe the fuel pump is dying? Happened in my good old 90 corolla, (333k before I got rid of it) miss that little pup haha but anyways, it was kind of having the same problems that you've listed, replaced the pump and things finally got rolling again

 

I suppose that could cause the problem since when I replaced it it was 20 eBay one
I new I would regret not taking the one out of my 86 before scraping it

 

Yeah I'd defiantly look into it. When I bought my new pump it ran me about $150 and a 2-4 of Bud

 

so i replaced the plug wires under warrenty and reset the computer its way better but im not getting my hopes up because everytime i do something it goes good for a week and then goes back to normal its driving me insane and i think its justifing by 1uz swap hopes ill keep you posted

 

resetting the computer effects the performance. This indicates it's the earned fuel map, You used a denso Ox sensor I assume, have you checked and cleaned the ECT sensor, insected the THA signal?

ok so the problem so far has appeared to be when i replaced the pcv valve the gromet that i bought to replace it apartenly wasnt the right one because it was so tight that it cut right where the place that seals the top of the hole in the vavle cover and sometimes it would seal and run great, most of the time it would have a small leak and run kinda crappy in general, but you wouldnt believe the mess of problems it causes when i would hit a bump and the valve would bounce out of the hole, it made a huge leak and drove horrid. i made my own grommet out of heater hose that works great so far and was about a perfect fit
