Like the title says, I have a 1999 Tacoma it came with a 3rz and A340F auto transmission, but about 2 year ago I swapped in a W59.

Current Plan:

Engine- 2002 Toyota Tundra 2uz-fe
Transmission- W59
T-case- Stock T-case from a W59

I will be using a 1uz Lexuz Bell housing (same as 2uz bellhousing) and this kit 1uzfeswapkitto bolt the bellhousing to the transmission.

I am still collecting parts at the moment, but I plan to start on my swap in June.

For now here is my progress so far.

I bought this engine knowing it has a problem, and I gave almost nothing for it.. Which was a good thing. I bought it as having a bad timing belt, but instead both camshaft alignment pins where broken.







after digging a little more I found one bad intake cam journal in each head.





Then I found the reason for the broken alignment pins.



After some hunting I picked up 2 used heads from a salvage yard.

One looked pretty much brand new, the other had some issues that I found when I was cleaning.



The combustion chamber just started to crumble!







I called the salavge yard and told them what I found and with in 2 days they had another head on my door step!

Anway, This the motor back togther with All Toyota Gaskets!



I still need to change the timing belt, and water pump along with track down a few hoses and clips.

Once I got the engine back together, I fixed a few things on the harness I picked up. It was missing the EVAP plug, and the altornator plug. The engine came with a 2004 harness that was pretty well hacked up, but the two plugs I needed where on it!

Wiring harness opened up and the wires stagger cut so the "bump" wont be as big.


The plug soldered on and taped up. Notice there is no bump in the repaired area.


Harness tapped back up and ready. I wish the tape matched the loom.

I also picked up a stock air box, intake tube, and the MAF!



I am now working on making sure the valves lash is in spec. I only have the left side at this point, but will be working that for the next few days.

As you can see, they are all pretty much on the loose side. I hope that with 3 extra heads sitting around I will be able to get them all in spec and not have to buy any from Toyota.
