2wd mojave pickup converted to offroad camping trailer

Since this is my last year of high school i really wanted to take advantage of the great shop that my school has. Ive been into toyotas for about two years now and am in a great possition for building them. I work for a company called 4xToys. We are basicly a toyota pickup and 4runner pick-a-part. I managed to grab get a 2wd mojave (rough shape, no motor, slight body damage and rust all over).

I brought it to my school and began to strip it down with intentions of building a simple camper that will match the ride height, colour and body style of my pickup

Southern Alberta canada. The company started as just pickups and 4runners but has gradually grown to the point where we have all types of jdm vehicles.

Sure beats working at mcdonalds like the rest of my friends.

This thread should be fairly steady since i get 2-3 hours of time to work on it every week day. Every day i get something done thats worth mentioning ill be sure to update anyone that cares. Hoping to have it built fairly quick.

Got a few hours in today. Had two shop classes and i stayed in at lunch. Anyway i started cleaning up the frame. I cut the front out and notched the insides of it so i can fold them together. I also removed the cab mounts. Ofcourse there was rust in them. I cut the rust out and welded in some new plates. I also bought a jack for the front and a weld on hitch plate

Traded the 2wd diff for a 4wd one. Sanded it all down and painted it with a textured paint. I hate doing body work so im letting my friend do it. Im getting the feeling he wont do too great of a job but im not really concerned. Its going to to get bad rock rash and get pounded against trees anyway. But i noticed hes already put bondo on top of the paint. But like i said, I dont care if its rough looking.

Sorry about the lack of updates. Ive been busy with tests and semester break. But anyways, ive got the frame inside now. I welded on the hitch plate and added some other plates to it for more support. I plan on coverin the triangle front end with sheet metal but i dont have a big enough sheet at the moment. Once the sheet is on i will mount a tool box and spare tire on the front of it. Ive also welded on the jack and saftey chains. Looks like the jack will need an extention.

Got the frame cleaned and painted. Its sitting on the diff now. Im have 5" blocks that im using for the lift. If they handle too rough ill just take them out. I had to have custom u bolts made at a brake shop (couldn't find anything for a 5" block haha. I i got the ubolts made round so the plate could go on the top of the spring. I cut the shock tab off the plate with a plasma cutter and welded it to the top of the axle. Im using rancho 5000 shocks. Im likely going to need a sway bar but will do a test camp trip to see what needs to be adjusted, modified or added. My buddy also got the body work done and has the box painted.

Got the box on the frame! Its sitting pretty high. If it doesn't come down a bit from added weight ill just put in smaller blocks

For some reason my pictures are not uploading with my posts. Anyone know why this could be happening or how to correct it? Ive been trying to do it the same way as i have in my previous posts.

They might be too big. There is a size limit for attached pictures. Try uploading photobucket or some other site and using the

code. (There's also the button with the little mountain, then you just copy the photo url into that dialogue box)
