So, whenever I start my truck - first thing in the morning - and gas it, it gives one loud and quick "Chirp". Not even enough to call it a squeal.

I've tightened all belts, and they are about two months old. Unfortunately, they are not oem. This is not my fault, as it was done by the prior owner.

Could this be remedied by anything other than just putting new oem belts on? Could the chirp be anything else?

Thats just the raw power of a Toyota... the belts never see it coming.

lol My 22RE does this EVERY cold start... difference is I haven't cared enough to fix it yet. When I DO get to it I just plan on removing the belts and scrubbing down the pulley grooves with carb cleaner. My guess is I'm leaking coolant or oil down there somewhere... typical. Guess I'll have to figure that one out too.

IMHO V-belts are V-belts... some are better built, but I doubt its worth buying from the stealer.

 

Could it be an idler bearing going out?
