TRD rear locker

TRD rear locker
I have an '02 TRD 4x4, slightly modified. Problem is the rear locker motor, it is cooked, not repairable, does anyone know where to get a replacement, other than from Toyota, they want $1400.00 for it, and I'm just not willing to cough up that much money. i have been running it locked for quite a while, and it is getting a bit annoying. All I want to know is if anyone knows of an after market actuator, or if there is an outfit that sells refurbished ones. any help would be appreciated. Thanx, and Happy New Year.

Is the motor siezed? did you blow the fuse for the locker ecu? You could always pull the motor unlock the diff manually. And throw the motor back in. You may be able to buy the motors from a wrecking yard, ebay, etc. Or just buy a cable actuator conversion.

also. when you say its not repairable. can you go into detail? if its a simple electrical problem it is fixable. but if its a housing problem like i had. it would not be repairable. have you even taken it apart?

I had the same thing happen, my wiring ended up melting against the exhaust when one of the zip ties holding it got brittle and broke, it locked itself and fried the motor. I obtained a new motor from California mini trucks for $75 I think, dont quote on the price, it was 4 years ago or so. Anyways give them a call and see what they can do and ship it to you. Use metal hose clamps to hold the wiring harness...

Not much doubt where the name "BigBluepile" came from, south end of a north bound bear. I wasn't trying to be a smartass, just looking for some info.

The magnets on the electric motor at the top of the actuator have come off, I guess I could just replace the cap, if I could find one. I did epoxy them back in place, but to no avail. All the wiring is good, up to the actuator. Thanx for the reply.

No doubt, I'm currently in the Amazon, so when I get back home I'll be digging into it again, another 2wks, hell of a place to spend Xmas and New Years, first time I've had to work this time of year in 25yrs, kinda sucks not to be home with family. Cheers and again thanx for the input.
