How do I measure a clutch?

How do I measure a clutch?
Ok so how do I know what size clutch I have? Do I measure the pad or the entire assembly? I'm doing a conversion and gathering parts. I am swapping to a SBC with sm465. Basically I need to know which flywheel I need. In order to do that I need to know which part of the clutch to measure. Thanks for any help.

I have a clutch that measures 11" at the disk. I have the option between 2 flywheels for my engine. One is for an 11" and one is for a 12" . I just need to know if I measure the clutch disk or the assembly.
