how do I id gear ratio

ok m 94 runner 3.0 auto has started to make bearing noise in the rear
i may have located a complete rear end for cheap so I may change it out
I need to find the ratio of the gears can this be done by vin or is there supose to be a tag on diff

this will help you to figure out your ratio using the A/TR code found on the ID plate on the inside of the driver's door jam.

It's not part of the VIN. With that VIN you could have one of many different gear ratios. You need to find the axle code.

Ok since I think I really only need a right axle I see in some used parts they want to know if it was 2 or 4 wheel abs Is there something on axel different Or as long as it is a abs axle

It needs to be from a vehicle with the same axle code(and ABS if that's what you have). Or from another 4WD truck or 4Runner with the same gear ratio(and ABS if that's what you have). 2 or 4 wheel ABS has nothing to do with it, because it's a rear axle(since if you have 2 or 4 wheel ABS, the rear axle has ABS either way, that's why it's not even called 2 wheel ABS, it's called rear wheel ABS, or 4 wheel ABS if the front has ABS too).

are the left and right axles the same
or do I need to make sure I get the right or left
