So im thinking about the OME Dakkar 2" lift springs for my 1987 4runner. Can anyone out there tell me or have some photos of the lift it puts on the back? Anyone have measurements from the top rim edge to the bottom wheel well edge on the body?

I already know they are awesome leaf springs, but really trying to avoid too much rake. Thanks

You will have to lift the front too. 2" springs with longer shackles and you can get 4" of lift or so out of them.

No...I'm actually looking for minimal lift. Original height would be my preference, but cant find anything that will deliver that at a decent price ($300ish)

 

i don't know how the wheel wells on a 1st gen 4runner compare to a 3rd gen pickup, but on my 93 xcab i'm at right around 22.5" bottom of fender to center of axle - running OME medium Dakars w/stock shackles for a few years (broken in). when i first installed the leafs they netted 2-3", but after they broke in they are around 2" lift.

 

I put them on my 88 a few months ago. I had MASSIVE rake in the back. I ended up taking out one of the helper leafs because it was so stiff. If you get them, make sure to get the arb bushings for them. The front eye on the arb leaf is different than stock. I'm out of town for work, but I'll snap some pics of it on level ground at the end of the week. I bought my ome leafs through Amazon because it was free shipping. A set or two show up on there about once a month. I think I paid $250 shipped.

If HC has different size wheels, wouldn't that make your measurements different anyway? Why not measure from axle centerline? Or axle tube to frame?

 

I will get some measurements and pictures of it on flat ground tomorrow. The truck is over to my father in laws on the lift getting new brakes. It was still pretty stiff after I took out the helper, but it rides nice now. I think the new bushings had to wear in a little. I also used the OME shackles. Removing the helper def. helped with the rake.

 

I didn't get any photos of the truck this weekend. Well I did, but my phone went through the wash. But I measured the distance from the bottom lip of the wheel well to the lip of my 15" rim and it was 12 1/2".

Here's a older pic of it sitting on pretty level ground. The front end is original with just new shocks.

That's with just the one helper taken out. It rode a little stiff for the 1st week or so, then it softened up. Taking out the helper spring helped more with the rake than the ride. I think it would have softened up with the helper in, but the rear end was so high up, it looked funny. I have cheap Monroe shocks in the back for the time being until I can pick up a set of OME shocks.

 

The stripes are just vinyl I bought off of Ebay. The white is a roller job using Interlux boat paint.

 

I have them on my 4runner as well. I ended up with more like 3" of lift in the rear even after they have settled some. I have bj spacers in the front with the torsion bar turned up slightly for now and still have about an inch to two of rake. I can try to get a pic up later if you want. I do like the ride for the most part. They are kinda stiff on the highway.They do flex pretty well though. I think the rake is a little worse on mine due to the weight on the front.

 

Harry... which leaf did you end up taking out? I installed these springs yesterday and they are way too stiff for my liking. Did removing the leaf also take some of the lift out? It's also taller than I like as well.
