help with a suspension lift

so I have a 1985 toyota 4wd pickup that I want to lift, and a rather limited budget to do it on. I'm considering doing a 63" chevy swap in the rear combined with shackles, hoping to get around 5 inches of lift. Is this realistic? Also, provided I do this, what is a good leaf spring option for lifting the front of the truck so everything is level (and preferably 5 inches further from the ground)? Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

I know it's been done a lot, I was just hoping I could talk to someone who has done it before. I have heard people say the chevies will give you anywhere from 2 inches of lift to 6, im curious as to if anyone knows how much lift the springs give by themselves? I'm also planning on doing RUF for the front, but I wanted to see if anyone had other affordable options. At some point I hope to be running 35s

I ran a 4" pos Rancho lift and had plenty of room for 35's on my 85 ex cab.
But seriously SEARCH find a build thread that mirrors what you want to do and then read it. If you still have questions you probably have found someone that has gone through it. Most of us are willing to help but just do your homework and search. if you can't find it on the yotatech search engine. use Google and put yotatech in as a key word. helps me find threads I have lost track of.

Good luck

thanks thefishguy, I'm pretty confident I can do the chevy lift, I've read plenty of threads about it and whatnot, i just noticed that every single one i've read lists a different amount of lift. I'm assuming thats due to differing shackle length and drop hanger height. Also some people use rear blocks, but I want to avoid that.

I understand that properly set up Chev rears and shackles will gain ABOUT 3"-5" of lift. As I'm sure you found, there are different model for springs(2wd/4wd) and different folks seem to get different heights. Best to decide if you want 63s in the back and you may have to mix & match leafs to get your desired height.

okay thanks. I'm definately planning on chevies in the rear, I don't see any reason why I should change that as yet.
