'86Owners 1986pu Build-up

I thought it would be a good idea to do a build thread though i have had my pickup for two years now and have done alot to it that i don't really have pics of. But I have stuff I still want to do to it. Here is my pickup soon after I bought it:

Here it is now after the work I have done to it mainly tires, add-a-leaf, deer guard fab, 4.56 gears, detroit trutrac in front, and a lot of carb work(jetting and such). I tipped it over into the bushes a couple months ago and these pics are after the body work done on it. You can't tell a thing!

This is the side it tipped on.

The fender was dented and scratched the roof was dented and the hood was a bit hurt too. Here is the fender after:

Another pic.

Anyway those are pics of my truck now. I'll get a picture of the tip over.

Things I plan to do include upgraded cam, onboard air, new lights, and possibly 33's. All to come in time...

It is nice to a good clean truck. You have done a great job on it after the tipping. Little by little you will get it where you want it to be.

Ya, the body shop I took it to did a really nice job. I could have done most of it myself, but insurance paid for it and the roof was dented right along the corner and was starting to rust so I just had a body shop do it.

Oh, I guess I should change that. I'm actually in milton-freewater which is south about 10 mi across the border. But not many people know its there.

I love my truetrac! It does pull a little funny if the road is half ice and half dry and so you have to hang on to it a bit, but mostly you just have to remember its there. It provides so much traction and pulls quite hard. I can go up a quite steep hill thats nothin but ice and coupled with the rear locker I have not a problem. You can feel it pulling where ever you steer. Very nice! And since its in the front you never know its there until your in 4 and then its nothing but traction. That is assuming you got good tires, but its still better than open diff with any tires.

Ok, just got a large pay check and am going to order a cam. I am leaning towards the EB 261c. Any suggestions from anyone who has upgraded cams? And also I'm looking for tips from those who have installed cams on procedure and such. I know how to do it, just never have.

Ok, been a very long time with many things done... most of them repairs actually. Last spring I think I replaced the crankshaft cause mine broke in half... Last fall my ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm, front wheel bearings all got replaced. Then I lost third gear and so I bought a rebuild kit and rebuilt the tranny. Then I found a ton of metal shavings in the rear diff and all that worked out to an entire axle rebuild. Then my transfercase started to get very sloppy and so I picked up a used one for 150 and swapped them out until I have the time and money to rebuild my old one... Somewhere in that time I had to replace the distributor and fuel pump. Upgrades since the last post have been electric fuel pump, EB261 cam, new off road lights and driving lights... I'll post the pics i have and detail things a little more as i have time...
