Beast 146's 1994 Pickup Build Thread
Hey Yota Tech. Im starting my first build thread on my 1994 extra cab pick up, I hope you all enjoy.
So to bring you up to speed. I bought the truck off the original owner in vermont for $400 with the motor already apart. Most of the motor was in the bed of the truck and what was left of the bolts and hoses were in the airbox mixed together. I stumbled through my first engine rebuild and somehow it finally fired up
. The PO had it undercoated yearly so for a northern truck its not that rusty but still, its rusty.
THE PLAN (as of now)
Three inch leaf lift
SAS
4.88's
Lockers(not sure what kind yet)
33/12.5/r15(also not sure what kind)
paint
1" square tube bed

Started the solid axle swap
Thanks rustED. It should be fun. Anyway, i started on the SAS
. I got the front axle completely stripped and almost all of the ifs mounts are cut off the frame(i ran outa cutting wheels)

I was wondering what peoples thoughts on the Trail-gear gaskets and bearings for the front end are? Ive heard only bad things about them but that's just from one friend of mine. What are your opinions?

Hey beast, nice progress on the SAS! I can't give an opinion on the bearings, but I do highly recommend TG's "trail safe" wiper seals, way superior product over the stock wiper seal and eliminates the use of "felts" that come in most knuckle rebuild kits,

you can see the difference over the stock seal, they are a little tough to stretch over the ball, but worth the extra effort, lol

Look forward to seeing more progress!

So I've been busy with school and work and haven't gotten on here in a while but I got the solid axle and rear lift on. Put the front and rear locker in and it finally moves again. Just need to finish the brakes and suspension. PICS!!!!

SAS almost done

just need to finish the welding on the spring hanger

Thanks. The pic does make it seem bent but the axles turn smoothly and when i looked at it in the garage it looks straight. If anyone has some used 35/12.5/r15's i would be interested in buying. Id prefer they pass inspection. Suspension and brakes should be done soon. Cant wait
