04 v8 AC problem

so i turn my AC on in my runner and it blows nothing but warm air, pop the hood and the ac pump is not engaging turn the car off and the pump clutch spins by hand so i know its not locked up. checked the glass by the high line and dont see any sort of sign of freon in there.

my question is why would there be no freon at all? hole in the lines somewhere or what? im going to try and fill it myself, is it better to let a shop do it or is it safe to buy an r134a can from my local automotive and fill it my self watching the gauge of course

any opinon or help would be appreciated thank you

Check fuse & relay first. I've seen an 03 V8 A/C go down in such a manner.

is the a/c light on the button flashing? if so I would start with the relay myself. I know it was some what common on that body style.

if there is too little gas, it won't work. If there is too much gas, it won't work. Is there any obvious signs of damage or holes in the condensor at the front of the rig?
