So i took out my rear window relay but it looks different (from what i have seen from the '90)

I don`t know which relay does what, but you can buy new relays for less than twenty dollars and replace them all. The relays you buy will be heavier duty than the original relays.

I replaced all the relays in the relay box on my 86 4Runner, and it made a big difference in the window operation.

you need a desoldering bulb, they're super cheap. I get to do this pretty soon, my window stopped working a couple months back, crap! get the contact hot and once it melts, hit it with the suction bulb.

my relays don't match some of the good threads that contain the right part numbers, I'm still searching for matching relays....

gotta find relays with the correct pin-outs in the exact same position as the old ones.

Need to cross reference your relays with the pic of mine (can't find it at the moment), if you find a place/part numbers that work before I do, post 'em up!

I will look also, this really needs to get fixed so I can drive this thing again...

ok, found the pic of mine; can't quite read yours but I think mine are different relays after all. They might be close enough to work though, who knows....

On #185 I found several different links that might help when I went thru the same thing. If I try and copy and paste, not all links will move over. Maybe some of this will help. Link #185.. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...99/index8.html

No, its not hard to change the relays at all, and if you get one from a junk yard how do you know your going to get one that works ?.

Find the new relays you need online and buy them, then go to radio shack and buy a cheap soldering iron and a desoldering tool, there not expensive, and then desolder the old relays, put the new relays in place and solder them in and your done. You can do the whole job in less than 45 minutes.

Is this relay located on the tailgate under the plastic panel? I'm asking cuz I have been searching here and on 4runner forum because my tailgate window stopped working. I found several threads and have made sure my window lock button was not "on". I checked the rear wiper and it appears to be completely in the down position. The switch to roll the tailgate window up and down does nothing and the wiper does not work. The defroster does work and the window washer fluid will squirt out. Lastly, the window can be rolled up or down using the key in the tailgate. Is the relay the logical point to start? BTW, this is my first post on the site so I apologize if I babbled too much.

look behind the driver side rear corner panel, it's in there. Older runners are on the opposite side up above I think.

if the window motor is working with the key I wouldn't suspect relays yet although I don't know if they could be on separate relays? It's worth switching out with 10 amp ones anyway though I think.
